Do UFOs really exist? I don't know. On this page, I will not be able to convince you that UFOs exist, but I will do my best to convince you that large parts of the truth about this subject are being withheld from the public. I am convinced there is a big secret everywhere there are UFOs, and this I would like to demonstrate to you. To show you, using facts, that our governments know a lot more about UFOs than they have decided to tell us.
The Drake Equation is a very simple equation to estimate the number of intelligent civilizations with high tech capabilities. Most astronomers agree that calculations on the Drake Equation indicate that it is likely there is intelligent life somewhere in the Universe. Investigation is still underway to determine if intelligent life can be found here on Earth. :-) This is not so controversial.
What definitely is controversial, is whether UFOs are sighted here on earth on a regular basis, and if so, why we don't hear more about it. There is much information out there about UFOs and most of us have seen e.g. TV shows about UFO sightings, but they do have an atmosphere of pseudo-science about them.
In my opinion, if there really were UFOs visiting earth on a regular basis, this would be one of the most important facts ever. I would certainly claim that this would be the most important revelation of the last 1000 years. For that reason, I find it profoundly appalling that there is no clarity on the issue, one way or another. If it really is true, then wow! Only conclusive evidence for whether or not God exists, eliminating the need for faith, would be more important to me personally.
This is one very investigated UFO case, and I'd like to comment on it shortly here.
First some of the facts, that nobody to my knowledge disputes. (If you do, please let me know about it including why.)
In 1947, shortly after the end of World War II, Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) was the only nuclear weapon capable military installation in the world.

On July 8, 1947 an article appeared on the front page of the Roswell Daily Record with the headline "RAAF Captures Flying Saucer On Ranch in Roswell Region". Colonel William Blanchard, the commander of the Roswell Army Air Field, had ordered the base's public information officer, Lt. Walter Haut, to issue a press release announcing the recovery of a flying saucer (the acronym UFO had not been coined yet). |

The next day, Brigadier General Roger Ramey, Colonel Blanchard's commanding officer, told the press from Fort Worth, Texas, that what had crashed and had been retrieved was really a weather balloon, not a UFO, as reported the previous day.
|
These two front pages with these stories can still be purchased from the Roswell Daily Record for $7 including shipping and handling and nobody doubts their validity. Transcripts of their contents can be read online. (Among many other places. Buy the papers if you want to be sure.) The articles definitely exist. I know of nobody that questions the truthfulness of the articles.
Similar stories appeared in newspapers all over the US in 1947 and there are many more undisputed facts about Roswell, but for my purposes, these two newspaper articles will suffice. They are good because they are easily verifiable and contained, but still capture very important information.
There are only two possibilities. Either the Air Force did or didn't recover any UFOs at Roswell in 1947.
If they didn't recover any UFOs then this is interesting: The only nuclear arms capable military installation in the world would have had to be considered a big deal in 1947, two years after the end of the biggest war the world has ever seen. The commander of such a base would have had to be hand-picked and a very reliable and trustworthy person. (In the climaxing phase of World War II, Blanchard was directed to prepare and supervise the detailed operations order for the delivery of the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima.) Isn't it thought-provoking that such a trusted and competent person couldn't tell the difference between a weather balloon and a flying saucer? The Roswell Army Air Field regularly launched weather balloons as part of its normal operation, but still neither Colonel Blanchard nor anyone else at the Air Field recognized it as a weather balloon. Instead Colonel Blanchard went for the extreme measure of ordering a press release with the outrageous explanation that it was a flying saucer! If it really was a weather balloon, what other profound misjudgments would such a commander be capable of making? Wouldn't this be a totally irresponsible and dangerous person to have in command of the only facility with nuclear bombs in the world?
Colonel Blanchard continued to have a very distinguished military career, dying on active duty as Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force in 1966, by the way.
If they did recover extraterrestrial UFOs, well then that is interesting in itself, isn't it?
Did a flying saucer or UFO get captured there? I have no idea. Certainly something very interesting happened at Roswell. The government's story, which has changed many times over the years, is still bogus and totally inconsistent with the facts and it is incomprehensible to me that it has been allowed to stand for so many years. It has been widely contested, but the military has not yet been forced to answer the contests. I really would like to know what really happened in Roswell in 1947. Unfortunately, time is running out. All the remaining eyewitnesses are getting very old.
FYI: Very many websites and books have been written about Roswell (see Google or Amazon.com).
The US government clearly has the policy that UFOs don't exist. But there is ample evidence that the US classifies documents on the subject of UFOs as "Above Top Secret". More secret than Top Secret.
This makes no sense to me. Does it make sense to you?
The secrecy alone is enough to demonstrate that the government knows a substantial amount about UFOs. If there are no UFOs, how can there be any secrets about them? Why would the government want to withhold information about this supposedly "crackpot" subject?
In the late 70's CAUS asked the CIA to do a search for documents regarding UFOs. Among other things, it revealed that the NSA had 18 such documents. NSA refused to hand over any of these documents, so CAUS sued. When the NSA performed a court ordered search for UFO documents, they found 160, not 18, NSA documents and 4 of these were eliminated.
The NSA refused to release any of the information in any of the 156 documents at all, also including refusing to show their contents to the presiding Federal Judge Gerhard Gesell. Instead, the NSA filed an Above Top Secret Affidavit describing why the 156 documents could not be revealed. The judge was only allowed to see the affidavit after he has granted the appropriate security clearance. After having read the affidavit, the judge too agreed that neither the 156 documents nor the affidavit in its entirety should be released to the public under the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), and that the contents of the 156 documents shouldn't even be disclosed to him! The affidavit, when finally released under FOIA had 75% of its contents censored out, and can be seen here with all the juicy bits removed. In other words, the judge agreed that not only wasn't he or the public allowed to see the documents, but also, the public was not allowed to know why.
It doesn't prove what is in this information, just that all 156 documents about UFOs admitted to be in the possession of the NSA contain information classified at Above Top Secret or higher. Had there been just one or two documents, well maybe they both by coincidence contain other unrelated secrets. But all 156 documents?
There is surely a big secret here.
More information about this case can be found at Citizens Against UFO Secrecy (CAUS).
Next there is a Canadian Top Secret memo, the "Smith Memo" written by W. B. Smith on November 21, 1950. It contains:
I made discreet enquiries through the Canadian Embassy staff in Washington who were able to obtain for me the following information:
- The matter is the most highly classified subject in the United States Government, rating higher even than the H-bomb.
- Flying saucers exist.
- Their modus operandi is unknown but concentrated effort is being made by a small group headed by Doctor Vannevar Bush.
- The entire matter is considered by the United States authorities to be of tremendous significance.
After receiving the memo, the Canadian Department of Transport quickly approved Smith's proposal to investigate UFO reports in an official capacity. On December 2, 1950, Project Magnet - a classified Canadian government project - was officially born.
Smith and his group studied flying saucer reports from all across the country and worldwide, and issued interim reports. On August 10, 1953, Smith filed a report in which he stated, "It appears then, that we are faced with a substantial probability of the real existence of extraterrestrial vehicles, regardless of whether they fit into our scheme of things. It is therefore submitted that the next step in this investigation should be a substantial effort toward the acquisition of as much as possible of this technology...."
A mere three months later, on November 13, 1953, the first "flying saucer sighting station" in the world was operational, at Shirleys Bay, Ontario, Canada, ten miles from the nation's capital of Ottawa.
So apparently the Canadian authorities didn't think he was a crackpot, and didn't have reason to disbelieve the rather interesting statement from the Canadian Embassy either.
Frank Newport, Editor-in-Chief, The Gallup Poll, had this to say in an October 1997 editorial:
"What If Government Really Listened To The People?":
...The government would come clean with all it knows about mysterious phenomena. The public appears absolutely convinced that the U.S. government knows more about UFO's than it is letting on. Seventy-one percent of Americans in a Gallup poll conducted last year said that the government is hiding something it knows about UFO's (45% think that UFO's have actually visited earth, and 12% say that they have actually seen a UFO.) In a similar vein, after the U.S. military made an elaborate rational explanation of what really happened some 50 years ago in Roswell, New Mexico (when citizens spotted what they thought were UFO's), the public was distinctly unimpressed. Only 25% of Americans believed what the government said, despite the fact that a majority also don't believe that UFO's actually visited Roswell.
So, according to Gallup, 71% of the US population believe the government is hiding what it knows about UFOs, and 45% think UFOs have actually visited earth.. Need I say more here about the public's opinion?
Right now, government officials, not politicians, are giving out clearly bogus stories. Politicians are just simply dead silent about the whole matter. Democracy only works if voters are told the truth. The whole truth.
"Above Top Secret" classification of all information about a supposedly non-existent subject is just plain silly. To think that I buy into it is insulting.
If you are a voter anywhere in the world, tell your politicians that you know you are being lied to, that you resent it, that this is one of the reasons you don't trust government and hence politicians, and that changing this is one of the reasons you elected them! Send letters. Ask questions about it during election campaigns. Talk to your friends and relatives - spread the word.
If you are a politician anywhere in the world, and are concerned about why the public doesn't trust politicians, which I truly hope you are, here is a great subject to start with. 71% of the US public is convinced that government is not telling us the whole truth about UFOs. Supposedly government answers to politicians, and politicians to the public. If more politicians were to question the government's role in the UFO subject, demanding the public be told the truth like US Congressman Steve Schiff did, maybe some public trust would return to this most important profession. I certainly would begin to trust any such politician.
If you are a journalist or reporter, I urge you to have the courage to investigate this issue. We will not laugh. Rather, we will be more inclined to cry. If UFOs were given a fraction of the serious attention given to the whole ridiculous Monica Lewinski story, I am certain we would get to know much more of the truth.
If you are someone who knows the truth about UFOs, who are you to be lying about it and keeping this knowledge from me and everyone else?
I really demand to know the truth about UFOs! Given the chance, I would vote accordingly, but I know of no politician that publicly admits we are being lied to and also demands to know the truth. In my opinion, if UFOs do come here regularly, silence about this cannot be justified on any grounds or for whatever reason including "National Security". This knowledge is just too important.
Yes, making this information known to the public may cause some panic and turmoil. Just as when we discovered that the earth was round and was not the center of the universe, when we discovered that the world was not created in 7 days or when we discovered that we evolved from the apes. All in all, the earth is a better place with this and all other kinds of truth out in the open. Isn't that what Science's triumph over Organized Religion has shown since the middle ages?
I want to believe! But more than that, I demand to know the truth!

P.S.: None of the stuff I have presented here is new. It has all been seen before. You can find books and many web sites on every one of the subjects mentioned. If you know of anything in here that is incorrect, or if you would like to know some more about sources, please contact me. The UFO subject is already plagued with disinformation, and I have tried to check my sources. If you can alert me to any doubt about information presented here, I will remove it promptly.
